Do any of your coffees have industry certifications?
Fair Trade. Certified Organic, Certified Natural. etc. etc.
You'll see us refer to these certifications in the descriptions of our coffee beans because some of our beans have been grown to meet these certifications. These certifications are intended to indicate quality, responsible growing / harvesting, responsible land usage and fair pay for producers around the world.
Relax and Brew - and our roasters - are committed to high quality coffee and fair economic practices throughout our supply chain. These certifications don't often tell the whole story - see this great (if dated article) on Fair Trade.
When our producers are certified, we pass that information along in the details section of our product description.
We also pass along the bean grades from each country of origin which is often a more telling (if not confusing) way to judge quality. We do our best to explain in plain English.
Why doesn't your packaging carry the certification labels?
Under our current supply chain agreements, we won't ever print them on our packaging or attach them directly to our products. Our roasters and growers are the owners of the certifications, not us.
We don't own these certifications directly as we are a Private Label brand. This means we are not the direct holder of those certifications - and we are not allowed to use them in the same way as the primary rights holders.
As we expand our supply chain, that may change, but for now, we will continue to be as transparent as possible about our product, our sourcing and anything else related to our business.
