Story of the Roast
The famous blue ocean of Bali, Indonesia, paints a relaxing scene but it's the initial color of the beans that gives rise to the name of this dark roast coffee. This amazing coffee bean actually has blue hues prior to being roasted
A bold, medium/dark roast with notes of chocolate and sweetness - this organic, shade grown Bali Blue Moon is an excellent cup of coffee! 100% Arabica bean, single origin, full bodied, low acidity and smooth - it’s a wonderful drink in the morning or evening after dinner.
This coffee is grown in the northeastern region of Bali, in the Kintamani Highland. The highland is located almost a mile above sea level and perveys gorgeous views of Mount Batur - an active volcano. This elevation yields temperatures that are typically much cooler - almost 15 degrees cooler than the coast - which is what helps to protect and grow the wonderful coffee that this region yields.
However, coffee growing was disrupted by the eruption of the Gunung Agung volcano in 1963. As coffee growing has returned to the island, beauties such as this rare treat have emerged as specialty coffee elites.
Coffee farmers in the Kintamani region often manure produced onsite at their own farm and never use pesticides. Most coffees from Bali are organic, even if the producer doesn’t have the financial means to go through the certification process. This is far from a guarantee, just an endorsement of the process.
Because of the sun’s intensity in this part of the world, there is typically a heavy reliance on shade trees. However, in the Kintamani region, there is a lower need for this as it tends to be cloudy. As a general rule, farms in Indonesia generally shade between 30% - 50% of the sun’s intensity to help increase the quality of the coffee cherries.

It is our private label coffee roasted to perfection in California. We have full bean or ground varieties - we recommend our full bean option to grind at a rough or standard grind right before making as a pour-over or French Press in the morning.
As with all of our coffees, full bean orders are roasted and shipped the same day. Ground beans are roasted and ground the day before shipping, then packaged and shipped the following day.
